The Omani capital hosted the Omani-Indian Business Forum organized by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During the forum, joint investment opportunities between the two countries in a number of commercial sectors were reviewed..

Eng. Reda bin Juma Al Saleh, a member of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: "The establishment of the forum comes to enhance economic cooperation and trade and investment exchange, in a way that rises to the level reached by the well-established bilateral relations between the two countries". The forum came to be a platform for Omani and Indian companies to explore investment opportunities in key sectors such as food security, building materials, petroleum products, pharmaceuticals, textiles, plastics, and jewelry."

He pointed out that the remarkable growth in bilateral trade and the initiation of the two countries to achieve a comprehensive economic partnership and the approaching conclusion of the free trade agreement between the Sultanate of Oman and India puts the private sector in the two countries in front of the responsibility to keep pace with the requirements of this stage, and to translate integration and enhance trade exchange between the two countries, which recorded by the end of last June about 1.2 billion Omani riyals (3.1 billion US dollars), which confirms that India is one of the most prominent trading partners of the Sultanate of Oman.

For his part, the Regional President of the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (Western Region), and head of the Indian delegation, Parrish Mehta, stressed that "the Sultanate of Oman is one of the key markets that have a high priority for the Republic of India, as it is a gateway to the GCC countries, and from this point of view, there are joint endeavors to strengthen trade and investment partnerships to work towards a future characterized by accelerating the growth of trade relations between the two sides."
